Keeping it basic: two Technics 1200-MKII decks, a Denon X-100 mixer, and 12" VINYL records. I'm not against serrato or CDs, but being able to touch the analog grooves is one of main reasons I think DJing is fun. Soul food. I've been DJing since I saw someone playing with a pair of turntables and vinyl records for the first time, about 9 years ago. At that moment I knew I needed to get my own pair of decks. I started out spinning trance and techno for a couple of years, but when I moved to Chicago I largely abandoned trance and my journey into house music began in earnest. I found myself drawn funky, soulful, uplifiting, disco-influenced tracks. I've drawn much of my inspiration from the disco-era roots of house music and the sounds coming from Chicago and New York in the late seventies through the mid eighties, but I collect and mix many styles of house on vinyl.
